These terms govern your use of the Zesti app. By creating an account or using Zesti, you agree to these terms. Please read them — they're written in plain English.
Zesti is a food ingredient scanning app that provides general information about food additives and ingredients based on published research and regulatory guidelines. Zesti is a product of Zesti Health, a sole trader business based in Queensland, Australia.
Zesti offers two ways to scan a product: reading its barcode, or photographing its printed ingredients list. Photos taken for label scanning are sent to a third-party AI service to extract the ingredient text, as described in our Privacy Policy.
Zesti is not a medical device and does not provide medical advice. Ingredient scores, risk tiers, and health concern labels are for general informational purposes only. They are not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease or health condition. Always consult a qualified medical professional or registered dietitian before making decisions about your diet based on health conditions.
The ingredient database is reviewed periodically but may not reflect the most current scientific consensus. Evidence in nutrition science evolves — information that is accurate today may be updated as new research emerges. Zesti makes no warranties about the completeness or accuracy of ingredient information.
Zesti's scores and labels ("Looks good", "Worth noting", "Some concern", "Higher concern") are Zesti's own assessment of the additives and ingredients in a product's ingredient list, made using the published sources described in the app under "How Zesti scores". They are opinion based on those sources, not statements of fact about whether a product is safe, and not a recommendation about whether to eat it. Scores can change as the evidence or our ingredient data changes, and an old scan may be re-checked against newer data.
If you think something is wrong, or you are a manufacturer with a correction, email support@getzesti.app and we will review it promptly.
Allergen alerts rely on the ingredient list and the label's own statements. Zesti can miss an allergen, and the product's label is the legal source: always check the pack.
You must be 13 years or older to use Zesti. By creating an account you confirm you meet this requirement.
You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account credentials. Notify us immediately at support@getzesti.app if you believe your account has been compromised.
You can delete your account at any time from the Profile tab in the app. Deletion permanently removes all your data from our systems within 30 days. This does not automatically cancel an active Zesti Pro subscription — cancel that separately through your Apple ID subscription settings to stop future billing.
The free tier includes a limited number of barcode scans each day and label (photo) scans each week, plus your scan history, saved products, health preferences and the Discover articles, at no cost. Your current allowance is always shown in the app. We may adjust these free allowances from time to time.
Zesti Pro is a monthly subscription. In Australia it costs A$4.99 a month. The price and currency shown in the App Store when you subscribe is the price you pay, and it can differ in other countries. Pro removes the daily barcode limit and gives you a much larger daily allowance of ingredient label scans (shown in the app and on the subscription screen).
If your Pro subscription lapses or is cancelled, your account automatically reverts to the Zesti Free tier and its limits — your scan history and saved products are not affected.
You can share your personal referral code with friends. When a friend creates an account using your code and completes their first scan, you each receive bonus label scans. Using or sharing a code is entirely optional and is never required to use Zesti.
If you name a product after scanning its label, you give us permission to show that name, together with the ingredients read from the label, to other Zesti users who scan the same barcode. Don't add anything unlawful, offensive, misleading or personal. We may edit or remove a name or entry at any time.

We aim to keep Zesti available and reliable, but we don't guarantee uninterrupted access. We may modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of the app (or the service as a whole) at any time. Where reasonably possible, we'll give notice of any change that materially reduces functionality you're paying for.
The Zesti app, including its ingredient database, scoring methodology, design, and content, is owned by Zesti Health and protected by Australian and international copyright law. You may not reproduce, distribute, or create derivative works from any part of Zesti without written permission.
To the maximum extent permitted by Australian Consumer Law, Zesti Health is not liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the app, including but not limited to decisions made based on ingredient scores or health information provided by the app.
Nothing in these terms excludes, restricts or modifies any right or remedy, or any guarantee, warranty or other term or condition, implied or imposed by the Australian Consumer Law that cannot be excluded.
These terms are governed by the laws of Queensland, Australia. Any disputes will be resolved in the courts of Queensland. If you have a concern, we'd appreciate the chance to resolve it directly first — contact us at legal@getzesti.app.
We may update these terms from time to time. We will notify you of material changes via the app or email at least 14 days before they take effect. Continued use of Zesti after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
